You know your body is trying to say something \u2014 the problem is, no one\u2019s really listening.     <\/p><p>What if the problem is in <strong>your veins<\/strong>?<\/p><p>Chronic Cerebrospinal Venous Insufficiency \u2014 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a title=\"What is CCSVI?\" href=\"https:\/\/www.raffaellopagani-ccsvi.it\/en\/department\/ccsvi-cerebrospinal-venous-insufficiency\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CCSVI<\/a><\/strong><\/span> \u2014 is a condition that\u2019s often overlooked and underestimated. Some studies failed to show a significant correlation, others produced conflicting results, and eventually, much of the neurology community chose to set the <strong>concept aside<\/strong>. <\/p><p>But here\u2019s the misunderstanding:<\/p><p>\u275d The fact that CCSVI didn\u2019t explain the origin of multiple sclerosis\u2026 doesn\u2019t mean it doesn\u2019t exist! \u275e<\/p><p>It\u2019s not uncommon in medicine for a theory to be scaled back in one context, only to <strong>find more practical applications elsewhere<\/strong>. And that\u2019s exactly what\u2019s happening with CCSVI. <\/p><p>Today, we know that disruptions in cerebrospinal venous outflow can affect a wide range of symptoms and conditions \u2014 <strong>even in the absence of autoimmune neurological diseases<\/strong>. That\u2019s why it still deserves our attention. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2efef34 elementor-widget elementor-widget-themeht-heading\" data-id=\"2efef34\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"themeht-heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\r\n        <div class=\"\">\r\n\r\n          <h2 class=\" \">What Is CCSVI \u2014 In Simple Terms\n\n<\/h2>       \r\n\r\n        <\/div>\r\n\r\n        \t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5d9ac83 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"5d9ac83\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>CCSVI refers to an alteration in the flow of blood <strong>leaving the brain and spinal cord<\/strong>. Under normal conditions, venous blood should drain smoothly through the <strong>jugular, vertebral, and azygos veins<\/strong>. However, in some individuals, there are: <\/p><ul><li>malformed valves,<\/li><li>narrowings (stenoses),<\/li><li>veins that are too small in diameter (hypoplastic),<\/li><li>or <strong>external compressions<\/strong> that obstruct the flow.<\/li><\/ul><p>When blood can\u2019t drain properly, it may start to \u201cpool,\u201d leading to increased pressure, tissue irritation, and neurological symptoms. The outcome? They&#8217;re usually told it\u2019s \u201cjust anxiety\u201d or \u201cpsychosomatic.\u201d<\/p><p>But sometimes, the problem is real \u2014 <strong>it\u2019s just that no one\u2019s looking in the right place<\/strong>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ed568ed elementor-widget elementor-widget-themeht-heading\" data-id=\"ed568ed\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"themeht-heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\r\n        <div class=\"\">\r\n\r\n          <h2 class=\" \">CCSVI and Connective Tissue Disorders: A Real Connection<\/h2>       \r\n\r\n        <\/div>\r\n\r\n        \t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6dcf54e elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"6dcf54e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>One group of patients where CCSVI tends to show up more frequently is those with <strong>Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS)<\/strong>, particularly the hypermobile type. This is a connective tissue disorder that can make veins: <\/p><ul><li>more fragile,<\/li><li>more prone to compression by muscles or bones,<\/li><li>more likely to become tortuous or have malfunctioning valves.<\/li><\/ul><p>In these patients, CCSVI <strong>isn\u2019t an incidental finding<\/strong> \u2014 it\u2019s often a key <strong>part of the clinical picture<\/strong>. This can happen with: <\/p><ul><li>hypertrophied scalene muscles,<\/li><li>a misaligned hyoid bone,<\/li><li>the clavicle or an elongated styloid process (as seen in <strong>Eagle syndrome<\/strong>).<\/li><\/ul><p>These are known as <strong>extrinsic compressions<\/strong>. Venous flow can vary depending on head position or breathing. And often, traditional exams \u2014 performed lying down, in silence \u2014 completely miss them.  <\/p><p>It takes a dynamic perspective. And an open mind. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d239de3 elementor-widget elementor-widget-themeht-heading\" data-id=\"d239de3\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"themeht-heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\r\n        <div class=\"\">\r\n\r\n          <h3 class=\" \">\u201cIt\u2019s Not All in Your Head\u201d\n<\/h3>       \r\n\r\n        <\/div>\r\n\r\n        \t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-28fe6b9 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"28fe6b9\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>One of the most frustrating things patients hear is:<\/p><p>\u201cYour tests are normal \u2014 it must be stress.\u201d<\/p><p>But <strong>CCSVI reminds us that lack of evidence is not evidence of absence<\/strong>. When a patient presents with real, recurring, and specific symptoms, we need to stop placing the blame on them \u2014 and start looking for answers in <strong>other systems<\/strong>. <\/p><p>The venous system is one of them \u2014 and still far too often overlooked. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ce41e70 elementor-widget elementor-widget-themeht-heading\" data-id=\"ce41e70\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"themeht-heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\r\n        <div class=\"\">\r\n\r\n          <h2 class=\" \">Diagnosis and Evaluation: Where to Start\n\n<\/h2>       \r\n\r\n        <\/div>\r\n\r\n        \t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c098f41 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"c098f41\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The diagnostic process includes:<\/p><ul><li><strong>Dynamic Doppler ultrasound of the extracranial veins<\/strong> (not just any exam \u2014 it requires skill and attention to subtle details).<\/li><li><strong>MR angiography or CT scans to assess possible compressions<\/strong>.<\/li><li><strong>Multidisciplinary evaluation<\/strong>, involving specialists in vascular surgery, neuroradiology, neurology, rheumatology, and posture analysis.<\/li><\/ul><p>Every case is different. We don\u2019t start with a fixed protocol \u2014 we start with <strong>the person<\/strong>. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f115dd5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-themeht-heading\" data-id=\"f115dd5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"themeht-heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\r\n        <div class=\"\">\r\n\r\n          <h2 class=\" \">Treatment?
